7 Habits of Highly effective People

The 7 habits of Highly Effective People are as follows.
 Be proactive
Begin with the end in mind
Put first things first
Think win/win
Seek to understand first, before making yourself understood
Learn to synergize
Sharpen the saw

Websters dictionaries definishion of Pro-active is:acting in anticipation of future problems, needs, or changes.

With that being said, the first and most fundamental habit of an effective person is to be proactive. More than just taking the initiative, being proactive means taking responsibility for your life. To me, this habit is about owning your choices, and being accountable for the outcome. Being proactive is being driven by your values, not your feelings. I believe what matters most is how you respond to circumstances and responsibilities. In the long run, proactivity can be seen in your ability to stick to the commitments you make to yourself and to others. This includes a commitment to self-improvement and, by extension, personal growth. By setting small goals and sticking to them, you gradually increase your integrity, which increases your ability to take responsibility for your life.

Why will the 7 habits help you fill your life with passion and purpose as you seek to achieve both a private and public victory?

Each of the 7 habits have high value in them. Aligning your passion and purpose with these 7 habits will help you by focusing on what is important. What I mean by that is; incorporating even 1 of these habits will change your life for the better, personally and professionally. I believe taking a step towards being
effective not only changes your life, but will cause a rippling effect.

Being Pro-active-You move forward based on your value system and don't react to outside sources that are there to hurt you.

Begin with the end in mind-each day of your life should contribute to the vision you have for your life as a whole. Knowing what is important to you means you can live your life in service of what matters most

3.Put first things first-prioritizing these commitments and putting the most important things first. This means having the ability to say no to things that don’t match your principles.

4.Think "win-win"-life must be seen as a cooperative, not a competition. Relationship building is important.

5.Seak to understand first, then to be understood-Empathic listening allows you to get a clearer picture of reality. When you begin to listen to people with the intent of understanding them, they quickly open up. Then seak to be understood, which takes courage.

6.Synergize-This involves teamwork, team building, and the creation of unity with other human beings.Creating a balance in a large group.

7.Sharpen the saw-Take care of your own well being. Maintain physical exercize, mental/spiritual awareness, and social aspects of your life. Maintain a balance.

These habits are definately something I strive for, but I am human and not perfect by all means. What I can do is pick one and start working on it, incorporating it into my daily life and see the results.
